Within the Jimdo dashboard, Jimdo business customers may activate Google Ads by Jimdo. For this purpose, you, the Jimdo Customer, are a data controller and Jimdo (Jimdo GmbH, Stresemannstr. 375, 22761 Hamburg, Germany ("Jimdo" or "We")) acts in this respect as your processor in providing access to the Google Ads services. This Privacy Policy explains how Jimdo processes your personal data via providing the technical integration of Google Ads, when activated by you, in the Jimdo dashboard. Information on Google’s processing of personal data in this respect can be found in Google's Privacy Policy and in Google’s API Services User Data Policy.

2. Processing activities
In this Privacy Policy we provide you with information about the processing of personal data by Jimdo as a processor within the scope of the activation and use of Google Ads via the Jimdo dashboard, the purposes and legal basis for processing the data, as well as the categories of data and the categories of recipients. You can find the definitions of the individual terms used in this text in Section 6 of this Privacy Policy. Jimdo has implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures so that the processing Jimdo conducts meets the requirements of the GDPR and ensures the protection of the rights of the data subject(s).
2.1 Activation and Use of the Google Ads Service
Jimdo processes personal data as instructed by you, the Customer, for the purpose of setting up and operating the Google Ads service within the Jimdo Platform, performing the contract for you in accordance with the Jimdo Google Ads Terms of Service. Jimdo uses the personal data you provide via the activation and use of the Google Ads Service, first and foremost to fulfill and implement the contract with you.
We process Google Ads Account Data, Google Ads Data, Google Ads API Data, Google Ads Manager Account Data, Jimdo User Data, Domain Data and Contact Data for the purpose of fulfilling your activation request for the Google Ads Service, as well as for the purpose of enabling your continued use of the Google Ads Service via the Jimdo Dashboard. Processing is carried out to prepare and implement our contractual obligations towards you, the Jimdo Customer. (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).
We transfer personal data to the following categories of recipients as part of this processing: Google Ads Service Provider (i.e. Google). We transfer personal data to processors in the USA for these purposes. You can find information about the transfer of personal data to third countries in Section 3. Information about the length of time for which the various categories of personal data are stored can be found in Section 4.
2.2 Statistical Analysis and Product Improvement
Jimdo processes data in order to create aggregated statistics that assist Jimdo in analyzing the usage of the Google Ads Service via the Jimdo platform. Jimdo uses the statistical data it creates via the Jimdo Google Ads Manager Account to analyze your use of the service in order to improve the service.
For this purpose, we process Google Ads Manager Account Data. The legal basis for processing is our legitimate interest in the technical optimization, functionality and improvement of the Online Services in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
We transfer personal data to the following categories of recipients as part of this processing: optimization service providers. We transfer personal data to processors in the USA for these purposes. You can find information about the transfer of personal data to third countries in Section 3. Information about the length of time for which the various categories of personal data are stored can be found in Section 4.
3. Data transmission to third countries
Jimdo ensures that wherever possible your data is processed in the EU or in the European Economic Area. If data transfer to a third country is necessary due to the use of certain services from providers in third countries, Jimdo will ensure, after prior review, that an adequate level of data protection that meets the requirements of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the EU Commission is adhered to in the country the data is transferred to. In these cases, the data is transferred on the basis of an Adequacy Decision of the European Commission or the Standard Contractual Clauses for the transmission of personal data to third countries in its current valid version. These can be accessed here. We regularly reassess the measures we have taken to assess the requirements arising from new regulatory guidance and case law. If data is transferred to a third country on the basis of your explicit consent, we will inform you of this separately. 4. Retention Periods
Insofar as we receive and process your personal data for the purposes of implementing, initiating, and processing your contract with Jimdo, we store it until the purpose of storage has been achieved (in particular achieved in the event of the contract being terminated), or insofar as this is required within the statutory retention periods in accordance with section 257 of the German Commercial Code (HGB) and section 147 of the German Tax Code (AO) and/ or any other applicable legislation.
We would like to point out that your data stored in Google Ads and your Google Ads account are not backed up, archived or otherwise stored by Jimdo. Therefore, if the Customer deletes data or if an account is blocked or deleted by Google or Jimdo as a result of a breach of contract, Jimdo accepts no responsibility for the fact that such data is irretrievably lost.
5. Information about your rights
As the data subject you have the following rights with regard to the processing of your personal data by Jimdo, in the event of the respective legal requirements:
- Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)

- Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR)

6. Definitions
The terminology used in this Privacy Policy generally has the meaning given in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We also use other terms which we explain below:
- “Contact Data” means the contact data you provide to Jimdo via signup or the dash, in order to complete your signup and enable Jimdo to provide you with the selected Jimdo service(s). This includes your name, email address, (optional) telephone number.
- “Domain Data” refers to your domain name.
- “Google Ads Account Data” means all data included in your Google Ads account, such as login credentials, name, business name, email address, email addresses of other account users if you have added them to your Google Ads account. Please note that all credentials are treated in accordance with the Jimdo Privacy Policy, as well as in accordance with the Google’s API Services User Data Policy, Google’s authentication and authorization framework. You can always see or remove access to this data via the settings in your Google account.
- “Google Ads API Data” refers to the API access to your Google account and includes the same permissions for all operations that are also possible for you in your Google Ads account. This may include the ability to access, create, edit and delete performance data, campaigns, ad groups and ads, bidding, targeting and scheduling settings, budgets, recommendations and billing settings. Jimdo requires these rights in order to provide the Google Ads Service and carry out actions at your request within the dashboard.
- “Google Ads Data” means the content of your Google Ads, your campaign goals, campaign content, campaign images, regions your campaign(s) is rolled out in, campaign budget, campaign success and statistics. You can always see or remove access to this data via the settings in your Google account.
- “Google Ads Manager Account Data” refers to the Manager Account access to your Google Ads account, which is a technical requirement set by Google in order for Jimdo to provide the Google Ads Service and carry out actions at your request within the dashboard. The rights provided and data concerned is limited to the “Google Ads API Data” as described above. You can always see or remove access to this data via the settings in your Google account.
- “Jimdo User Data” refers to your username, Jimdo account email address and your business name.
7. Version and changes to this Privacy Policy

It may be necessary to make adjustments to or further develop the use of Google Ads via the Jimdo Dashboard due to technical developments and/or changes to the law. As a result, we will update this Privacy Policy as required. The current valid version of our Privacy Policy can be accessed at any time in the version published on our website.
