We, the Jimdo GmbH (hereinafter referred to as “Jimdo” or “we”) via this Privacy Policy wish to hereby inform Jimdo users and visitors (as well as interested parties) that visit our social media pages, as to the purpose, type and extent of the processing of personal information that occurs via these social media platforms. Jimdo GmbH as well as the social media platforms carry a shared responsibility for the data processing that occurs via visiting the Jimdo Social Media pages.

If the Jimdo Social Media Privacy Notice contains provisions that contradict the Jimdo Privacy Policy, then the provisions of the Jimdo Privacy Policy shall apply.

Based on our legitimate interest in establishing and maintaining effective communication with the Jimdo user or interested party, as well as in providing them with relevant information, Jimdo maintains an online presence on various social media platforms, e.g. Facebook.

Of course if the Jimdo user or interested party visits our pages/profiles on these social media platforms, their data can be processed by those platforms outside of the European union. This can result in difficulties for the user in asserting their rights. For all US platforms that are Privacy shield certified, please note that they thereby oblige themselves to maintain European standards of Data protection.

Depending on the terms of use and privacy policies of the various providers, Jimdo users' data may be processed on the social media platforms for market research and promotional purposes. Thus, for example, user profiles may be created based on the user’s behavior and the resulting interests of the user. The user profiles can in turn be used to Place advertisements inside and outside these social media platforms that are allegedly in line with users' interests. For these purposes, cookies are usually stored on the computer of the user, in which the user’s behavior and the interests of the user are stored. Furthermore, data can also be stored independently of the devices used by the users (in particular if the users are members of the respective platforms and logged in to them).

The purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by various platforms, as well as the related rights (e.g. a right to information, to object, to rectification, to transferability or deletion of their data, as well as a right to lodge a complaint etc.) and setting options for the protection of privacy can be found in the privacy policies of the various platforms, linked below.

Information Note on data processing in connection with Facebook Fanpage

We use our Facebook Fanpages in order to generally inform about Jimdo and our products or services. Of course, we also use Facebook Fanpages in order to connect and communicate with Facebook users. From a technical point of view, the data processing is carried out by Facebook. In this regard, we refer to the privacy policy of Facebook https://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation However, according to the case law of the ECJ, u.U. as regards Facebook Fanpage, there is a shared responsibility for this data processing between Facebook and Jimdo.
