What is the Jimdo Companion?
The Jimdo Companion is your AI-powered assistant at Jimdo. It combines modern generative AI models with Jimdo’s data analytics to give you personalized recommendations, automate tasks, and offer clear business advice. The Companion advises you, but it won’t make any automatic changes to your website or settings without your input. You decide which suggestions to apply.
Which data does the Companion use?
The Companion only works with data from your Jimdo account, such as your business profile, website content, short-term analytics data, booking and shop information, anonymized industry benchmarks, and data from AI provider models. Jimdo limits the personal data processed to what is necessary for each specific function.
Important limitations
The Companion cannot change your content or settings without your participation.
The chat function is limited to 25 messages per 24 hours.
AI outputs may contain errors or unsuitable wording. Please review suggestions before publishing.
Data protection & third parties
Jimdo uses external AI partners and has implemented contractual and technical safeguards. We have agreed that your inputs will not be used by these third parties to train or improve their models. Currently, Jimdo also does not use your data for training, but this may change in the future. If you don’t want Jimdo to use your content for internal training purposes, you can opt out by emailing privacy@jimdo.com or checking our Data Protection Policy.
Security, fairness & control
Jimdo regularly reviews the Companion for accuracy, fairness, and safety. We conduct monitoring, testing, and risk assessments and update models and rules to reduce known issues. Outputs are not manually reviewed before publication, but we do automatic monitoring and sample-based as well as case-specific human reviews, especially in security-related cases.

Why is the Companion different from ChatGPT?
In short: the Companion knows your business and tailors every recommendation to you. While ChatGPT gives general answers based on generic training data, the Companion uses your Jimdo account data (website, analytics, offers) and industry benchmarks, so its advice is specific to your business.
Are my business and customer data safe?
Yes. The Companion only accesses data from your Jimdo account. Jimdo applies data protection, security measures, and contractual agreements with external providers that meet EU standards. For questions about specific data processing, contact privacy@jimdo.com.
Can the Companion change my website or handle orders automatically?
No. The Companion is an advisor: it cannot modify your website, process payments, or perform actions unless you confirm and execute them.
Who checks the AI’s answers?
Answers are not routinely reviewed by humans. Jimdo performs monitoring, random checks, and targeted reviews in problematic cases. If something seems wrong, use the help and support options in your dashboard.
What if the AI produces something incorrect or inappropriate?
Review the output, use your own judgment, and adjust the text. You decide how to use AI results. If you encounter problematic content, report it via Support or to privacy@jimdo.com so we can investigate and improve.
