We know legal texts can be complicated, so we’ve put together a summary of our Community Standards for you.
However, please note that the listed content represents only a small part of our Community Standards. They do not replace the full standards and are not legally binding. Therefore, please also read the full Community Standards!
Introduction
Jimdo offers you an online service to create websites with optional online stores through a simple modular system. We unleash the power of self-employed individuals and aim to provide you with the tools to express yourself creatively, expand your reach, and advance your business!
Over 30 million websites have already been created with Jimdo, each as unique as the person behind it.
At Jimdo, we are aware of our responsibilities and strive to allow every user to express themselves freely. However, this freedom ends when it comes to violations of applicable laws, the endangerment of children and youth, or the infringement of third-party rights.
Jimdo provides a platform for fair and lawful business activities. Illegal offerings are not allowed and will be deleted as soon as we become aware of them. Jimdo stands for respectful, violence-free, and discrimination-free interactions. Websites that violate this principle and may even be criminally relevant will not be tolerated and, in individual cases, will be reported to the authorities.
As part of this responsibility, we have developed our globally applicable Community Standards for all Jimdo customers, describing what content is not permitted on websites. These Community Standards are part of our Terms of Service (TOS). By using Jimdo’s services, you agree to comply with these standards and our TOS.
1. Reporting Violations of Jimdo’s Terms of Service and Community Standards
Violations of Jimdo’s Terms of Service and Community Standards can be reported at any time to the email address abuse@jimdo.com. Alternatively, you can use the reporting forms available in the Jimdo Legal Center.
2. Contact Point According to EU Regulation 2021/784 (TCO)
The EU TCO Regulation 2021/784 came into effect on June 6, 2021. Its purpose is to combat and reduce the dissemination of terrorist content online within the EU and ensure its prompt removal from the internet.
Jimdo provides a communication channel for requests from authorities in EU member states under this regulation to which content can be submitted in German or English. Please contact us under abuse@jimdo.com to learn more. Support inquiries directed to this address will not be answered or forwarded.
3. Netiquette
At Jimdo, we place great importance on respectful and constructive exchanges—whether between Jimdo and our customers or between customers and visitors to their websites. Regardless of the context—whether technical questions, content discussions, or general inquiries—we kindly ask you to maintain a polite and respectful tone at all times.
We understand that challenges or issues can be frustrating and are committed to doing everything in our power to support you. At the same time, we expect all members of the Jimdo community to treat other users and Jimdo staff with respect and kindness. Please ensure your inquiries, contributions, and discussions are always conducted in a constructive and polite manner.
Offensive, derogatory, or discriminatory comments, attacks, and disrespectful messages will not be tolerated—whether directed at Jimdo, other users, or website visitors. Such behavior may lead to restrictions or termination of the business relationship.
4. Violence and Endangerment
Jimdo stands for universal human rights and is committed to protecting the dignity and physical and mental well-being of all individuals. Content that could impair the development of minors or poses a risk of making them victims of violence or (sexual) abuse is strictly prohibited. Website operators must ensure their content is not harmful to minors. Since the Jimdo website builder does not support technical age verification measures, the publication and offering of content harmful to minors are generally not permitted on Jimdo websites. Indirect support and promotion of events, activities, or content associated with such organizations are also forbidden. Religious content instrumentalized for political or extremist purposes, especially to justify or support violence, is likewise prohibited.
18. Advertising for Extremist and Unconstitutional Organizations
The creation of websites to advertise, promote, or support political organizations, groups, initiatives, or parties classified as extremist or unconstitutional by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution or state-level constitutional protection authorities, or banned due to unconstitutional activities, is prohibited. This rule applies regardless of whether the classification or ban occurs at the federal or state level.
If a political organization, group, initiative, or party—entirely or in part—is classified as extremist or unconstitutional or is completely banned, Jimdo reserves the right to block websites connected to these entities and terminate the business relationship.
